HOW WE WORK
My name is Matteo. After graduating from the "Istituto Europeo di Design" in Milan, I moved to London, where I built my career, established my family and made Chiswick my home.
Following 15 years of experience in interior design, working predominantly on residential projects and developing close relationships with Italian manufacturers, I founded Sguazzini Interiors, an independent studio based in Chiswick.
We believe successful interiors begin with understanding how people live. Every project is shaped around the individual, creating spaces that are not only beautiful, but also practical, personal and made to last.
From complete home renovations and bespoke joinery to kitchens, wardrobes and carefully curated furniture, we manage every stage of the design process with clarity, care and close attention to detail.
Our long standing relationships with trusted craftspeople and leading Italian manufacturers enable us to create made to order interiors and furniture tailored to each home. By combining thoughtful design with exceptional craftsmanship, we deliver spaces that feel timeless rather than trend led.
Much of our work comes through recommendations and returning clients, a reflection of the care we bring to every project and the lasting relationships we build along the way.
SITE VISIT / PHONE CONSULTATION
Every project begins with listening. During an initial site visit or phone consultation, we take the time to understand your requirements, explore your ideas and establish how we can best assist you.
This gives us the information needed to recommend the most appropriate next steps. Consultations are available for projects of any scale, from a complete property to a single room, an individual product or simply some professional advice.
CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT / DESIGN PROPOSAL
We start by developing an initial concept that communicates the overall direction of the project. This typically includes a proposed layout, mood board, colour & material selections, together with an initial cost estimate.
Once the concept has been reviewed and approved, we develop it into a comprehensive design proposal, including detailed 3D visuals, technical drawings and a final quotation.
Depending on the scale and complexity of the project, this stage may take from a few days for a single room or individual product to several weeks for larger, more detailed projects.
FINAL REVIEW / ORDER CONFIRMATION
Once the design and overall concept have been agreed, a final site survey is carried out to verify all dimensions and ensure the proposed design is accurately tailored to the space.
We then review the drawings, colours, materials and finishes in detail, either on site or during a studio meeting. Every element is carefully considered and any final adjustments are incorporated before approval.
Once the client is completely satisfied, the final drawings and specification are signed off, the contract is confirmed and the order is placed with our Italian suppliers and appointed tradespeople. Production, delivery and installation timescales are then agreed and communicated before work begins.
MANUFACTURING / REMEDIAL WORKS
At this stage, you can relax while we take care of the coordination.
Your bespoke furniture enters production with our Italian manufacturers, while any necessary preparatory works are scheduled with our trusted contractors and specialist tradespeople.
Manufacturing typically takes between 8 and 12 weeks. During this time, we coordinate and oversee the required on site works, ensuring the space is fully prepared before delivery and installation begin.
INSTALLATION / FINAL INSPECTION
Your furniture is carefully transported from Italy to our London warehouse, where each consignment is checked and securely stored until delivery to the property is arranged.
Installation is carried out by an experienced team specialising in high-end interiors and bespoke furniture. Throughout the process, we work carefully and respectfully, keeping disruption to a minimum and protecting the surrounding areas of your home.
Once the installation is complete, all packaging and waste materials are removed and the space is left clean and ready to enjoy. A final inspection is then carried out with the client, allowing us to identify and address any remaining details before the project is formally completed and signed off.
